AKIKO WADA: LIVE AT THE APOLLO ON SEPTEMBER 29TH

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of her illustrious career, Gorgeous Entertainment is pleased to announce the American debut of the Japanese "Queen of R&B," Akiko Wada, who will realize one of her greatest dreams of performing at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem on Monday, September 29th. Ms. Wada chose the legendary Apollo for this memorable event because of its storied history as the home for so many musical icons including her dear friend of many years, the late great Ray Charles, as well as Jackie Wilson and Aretha Franklin (to whom Ms. Wada is often compared). The popular Japanese star will welcome another Apollo veteran to the stage as her special guest at the concert: Sam Moore, lead voice of successful chart-topping soul duo, Sam & Dave.

In 1977, Gary Wilson recorded his bizarrely brilliant album, YOU THINK YOU REALLY KNOW ME. In performance, he played his jazz/rock/sound-collage masterpieces while clad in just his underwear, or wrapped in duct tape, writhing on stage and destroying female mannequins. Then, suddenly, he simply vanished - leaving friends and fans mystified. This documentary explores the life, disappearance and re-birth of a funny and fierce American original.

UP IN THE AIR: THE STORY OF BOONAH THE TREE-CLIMBING FROG

Conceived and directed by Amon Miyamoto, composed by Tony-winner Henry Krieger (DREAMGIRLS), with book and lyrics by Tony-winner Bill Russell (SIDESHOW), UP IN THE AIR premiered at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in February 2008.

Based on one of the most beloved novels of the venerated Japanese author, Mizukami Tsutomu, UP IN THE AIR is a wickedly funny fable about a frog who, believing his friends and family are "stuck in the mud," leaves his local pond to climb the tall tree that shades the pond.

Boonah feels he has found "heaven on earth" on the treetop – until he realizes it is the aerie of a hawk. In the life-and-death adventures that follow, Boonah encounters a variety of similarly unlucky creatures and witnesses the gamut of behavior from cowardice to valor, from selfishness to grace – and he returns to his pond with a new, heartfelt understanding of what a gift it is to be alive.
