Japan Day @ Central Park

Japanday

An estimated 40,000 New Yorkers participated in the second annual Japan Day @ Central Park and the Japan Run. On May 31st, 2009, Central Park's East Meadow blossomed with tents offering Japanese traditional activities such as origami and calligraphy, and the opportunity to try on an authentic kimono; there was free food and a humanoid robot demonstration of the latest in robotic technology. Japan Day was organized by representatives of the Japanese Community with the support of the Consulate General of Japan in New York to say a heartfelt "thank you" to the great city that America's largest Japanese community calls home.
